'Is God past His sell-by date?'
Ok,this is the title of a book by John Blanchard. He had written a book entitled 'Does God believe in Atheists?',a 650 page work.H e wanted to wriite a shorter book, one which would be read by atheists etc to address the reality of God.Here it is.Is God dead, alive or even relevant to us today? The author starts with God;how do we define who God is?He lists several terms to describe God.I will try to list these with due credit given to Mr Blanchard.I am summarizing here.see pages 13-15
_______________
Unique;God is the one and only,
Personal;God is not some object, energy but a living Being
Plural;what we know as the Godhead-Father,Son,Holy Spirit;distinguishable persons
Spiritual;God has no physical form, not defined in terms of shape etc
Eternally self existant;has no beginning or end,has in himself the power of being
Transcendant;over and above all things, outside of time and space, seperate from the universe
Imminent;though seperate from the universe God permeates all of it
Omniscient;all knowing,past present,future
Immutable;God does not change in any aspect of his being
Holy;without fault,deficiency in his being
Loving;cares for all the universe, communicates his love to humanity
Creator;God by his own choice and power brought into being all reality other than himself
Ruler;sole, absolute control of all that exists or happens, nothing can prevent God from doing as he pleases
Judge of all mankind;[here i will give exact quote;may cause discussion]
John Blanchard says that by this term he means that God-"he alone determines the eternal destiny of every member of the human race"
_-----
Next, the author lays another card down, and discusses the bible as the data base he is using. Some very interesting comments, facts on the accuracy of the bible. Those I will get in here later, but first we can have our go at this first section.

I think here is where some secular humanists struggle. The belief they hold that they are in control of their own destiny (some going so far as to claim godship themselves) is in stark difference to Blanchard's comment.

For those who do not believe in God,or do not see Him as relevant in their lives;they then must make themselves as their own god.

Exciting!
I wish I could quote the whole section on the accuracy of the biblical documents, historical authenticity etc.I think that if I were an atheist or agnostic and seeking the truth;this would get my attention.Blanchard is very detailed, very well researched in this book.

The bible;finding flaws
Blanchard makes the following statement to any atheist who doubts the bible as authentic
"Not even the most enthusiastic believer would claim that every statement in Scripture is crystal clear,or that it is perfectly easy to see how it all fits together, but unsolved problems are not necessarily errors, and nobody without total and final light on every issue involved is in a position to say that he has found the Bible to be flawed. An unanswered question is not the same as proof of a mistake"
